Charleston used to be a favorite drive-to port for East Tennessee cruisers. That has changed: the last cruise ship called at Union Pier Terminal on June 30, 2026, and no cruises currently sail from Charleston. South Carolina Ports has said it is looking at bringing cruises back to the area someday, but there is no date or location yet.
Where to sail instead
- Jacksonville, Florida: Carnival sails short Bahamas trips year-round, and Norwegian Cruise Line adds seasonal sailings.
- Port Canaveral, Florida: home port for seven major cruise lines, including Disney Cruise Line, Royal Caribbean and Carnival.
